The Fritz Story
Fritz Gelato was founded by Andrea Fritz, born in Poschiavo, Switzerland in 1910. Poschiavo is perched neatly on the shores of a picturesque lake, representing the fusion of German and Italian culture. Gourmet food is a signature of Poschiavo, and thus Andrea Fritz grew up surrounded by ambrosia and sweet delights.
At the age of 25, Fritz formulated his own gelato and opened a small store on the shores of the lake. Summer time saw many a tourist and locals visit the store, which quickly became known as *Fritz Gelato*a name and product representing the quintessential essence of Italian Germanic fusion dishes.
After witnessing the devastation of the war, Fritz with his family migrated to Australia in 1952. The first Fritz Gelato stored opened at the bustling South Melbourne Market.
Using only the freshest and best quality fruit sourced from the market, Fritz quickly became known as the first and finest gelato maker in Australia. Due to customer demand, the business has expanded, but the quality remains.
Constantly scanning the world for new and exotic ideas, Fritz has been renowned for his innovative and creativity flavours.
Fritz Gelato can now be found in throughout Melbourne, providing the same quality and taste as Andrea Fritz first produced some 50 years earlier.
